SMART Chromatography™ Phenyl is a ready-to-use FPLC column pre-packed with ZetaCell Phenyl resin—large, highly cross-linked agarose beads surface-modified with aromatic phenyl ligands. Designed for SMART™ Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC), this column enables reliable purification of proteins based on their hydrophobicity using scalable packed-bed formats.
The phenyl ligand provides a moderate hydrophobic interaction strength, allowing fine-tuned separation of biomolecules by adjusting salt concentration. The resin’s large particle size (250 µm) and clog-resistant geometry support high flow rates and efficient performance in cell-containing feed streams, in line with the SMART™ platform.
