The SMART Chromatography™ DEAE column from emp BIOTECH is pre-packed with ZetaCell DEAE, a large-bead cross-linked agarose resin functionalized with diethylaminoethyl (DEAE), a weak anion exchange ligand. Specially engineered for direct processing of cell-containing feeds, this column enables efficient capture of negatively charged biomolecules without prior clarification steps. Its design supports high flow rates and low backpressure, making it ideal for scale-up and continuous downstream processing.
The resin’s weak anion exchange capacity allows flexible separation of a broad range of biomolecules under mild pH conditions. SMART Chromatography™ combines radial flow geometry with surface-accessible ligand distribution to increase throughput, reduce fouling, and simplify integration into purification workflows.
